Weekends, Wonderful Weekends

April was a blur...I don't where the month went! But as I look back through the pictures that I just now downloaded from my camera, it looks like it was a month to remember. Steve was gone for a good chunk of April, training in Texas then New Mexico, so we had lots of time at home with just me and the kids. In mid April we took a day trip to meet Miss Violet Grace Hoffman, the second-born baby of our dear friends, Suzanne (one of my college roommates) and Ryan. Six-week-old Violet was a sleeping angel during our visit. Bohdy was on his best behavior, too. Violet's big sister, Maizy, now 3, kept Saylor busy (and vice versa). The girls made pizza in their dress-up clothes!

The following weekend we did the MARCH FOR BABIES ... a chilly 5-mile walk to raise money for the March of Dimes' Colorado chapter. We fortunately had dry weather but the cold, strong winds didn't make for ideal conditions. My mom sat in the car with Bohdy while my long-time friend Melissa Kitchen (mom of three boys, two of which were NICU babies), Bob, Saylor and I took to the trail. Saylor was bundled up in the jog stroller, so she had it rough. The march was over before we knew it, and it was fun to see so many familiar faces ... PVH docs, nurses and fellow parents who we grew to know and love during Bohdy's NICU stay. Thanks to all our gracious friends and family who sponsored us in this year's walk. Fundraising has never been a strength of mine. (I remember once selling candy bars for a cheerleading fundraiser in high school. I bought them all myself just so I wouldn't have to ask people to buy them.) But when you are raising money for cause that is so personal and relevant to your own life, it is much easier and all the more rewarding.

Proud mamas!
(me and Melissa, mom to Tristan, Truett and Ty...Ty was in the NICU with Bohdy but I've known Melissa forever!!)

That same afternoon we went to Joren Rodriguez's 5th birthday party. Saylor and Joren have grown up together and Joren's mom, Jessica, is one of my closest friends. The party was at OD's hockey/soccer complex. Joren is a self-proclaimed sports 'BANATIC' so the venue was sooooo Joren. Saylor is not super enthralled with sports other than swimming and gymnastics, but she had a great time trying to hang with the boys. :-)
