What a wonderful weekend it was! After 8 weeks and one day, we brought Bohdy home from the hospital at a healthy 4 pounds 7 ounces! Two kids under one roof -- what an amazing feeling! We actually spent Friday night with Bohdy in one of the hospital's sleep rooms just to get a taste of what it would be like having him in our care with no monitors. Yikes! We didn't sleep at all that night, but we passed the test nonetheless. Saturday morning we gave Bohdy a final bath in the "preemie spa" and then packed up his little area and said goodbye. It was hard leaving the NICU staff that has made us feel "home" all this time. You get so attached to everyone, and they all loved Bohdy so much. It was definitely a bittersweet, scary, wonderful moment as we carried our son outdoors for the first time!
Nurses Rhoda, Juanita and Elizabeth: Rhoda took care of Bohdy in his first few days, Elizabeth was Bohdy's nurse on his last day, and Juanita was Bohdy's primary nurse and spent many, many 12-hour days with him.
Bye, bye Poudre Valley Hospital!
Welcome to my new crib...camoflauge minky, wow!!
My mom watched Saylor the night before so she brought her home a little while after we got there. Seeing the awe and love she already has for her little brother was priceless. Here's a little video of her holding her brother for the first time:
Congratulations!!! You did it. That is so incredible. We've been thinking of you all so much and wish you all the best as you transition to life at home together. Bohdy (and his big sis Saylor!) are two wonderful miracles. We couldn't be happier for you to be all together at last. Enjoy this time and don't hesitate to call or email if you need anything at all. Bohdy's NICU girlfriend Sofia sends her love. :) xoxoxo
ReplyDeleteSo glad he is home..the pictures and video of the two of them just warmed my heart and brought tears to my eyes. I can't get over how tiny he is..and how BIG "little Saylor" looks with him.
ReplyDeleteBeen thinking of you guys often. :)
God Is So Good! What a blessing for Nana and Papa to see your little family complete and together at last! The pure joy on little Saylor's face warms our hearts and we know this is the beginning of a wonderful bond that the two of you will share forever. As you begin your life in YOUR home with YOUR family, you will flourish as you experience true love from those around you and you will bring a very special joy to them. You are a valiant little soldier, Bohdy, and you have reminded us all that life is good. May God keep his hand upon you always and keep you strong. Welcome to the clan....we can't wait to see you playing with your sister and your little cousins and friends and watching you swing a baseball bat for the first time! We are going to have SO MUCH FUN! Good job Mom amd Dad and Grandma Carol and all those dear precious friends who have helped and of course the wonderful nurses and your doctor...how grateful we are for them. Sleep tight, little boy and know that you are SO loved!
ReplyDeleteYAY Amy - congratulations!! I will call you this week to see if we can swing by to meet this little Bohdy character.
