Saylor's stage debut

Saylor starred as "Pennywise" in her class's Christmas play yesterday. The play was titled "Christmas at the OK Corral" ... yes, it was a western-themed production. All started out great as the kids belted out a tune called "Christmas in the West." Then the opening line of the play was supposed to be by the story's villain, Bubble Gum Bart, but the poor kid playing Bubble Gum Bart got stage fright and completely froze. After an awkward minute or so of silence, another kid who knew Bubble Gum Bart's lines stepped up and filled in. It threw the kids off a bit (4- and 5-year-olds are not the best at improvising), but was darn cute nonetheless. Saylor's Gramma Carol and I were there cheering her on while Bob was on "Bohdy duty."

The big surprise of the day was when Saylor's Nana and Papa walked into the auditorium just minutes before the play started. We had no idea they were coming, but they drove all the way from Alabama and surprised us all!! We were all so happy to see them, and Saylor is looking forward to spending this Friday through Sunday with them at the Broadmoor in Colorado Springs.

It's become a tradition for Nana and Papa to spoil their girls each Christmas with breakfast in bed at the 5-star Broadmoor Hotel. Looks like the tradition will continue. Thanks, Nana and Papa!!
